The public is invited to come to Tipp City United Methodist Church Great Hall on Wednesday, April 26, to view works of the student-artists. The exhibit is open from 5 pm until 7 pm. During the exhibit a spaghetti & meatball meal, to include chicken nuggets, salad and dessert too, will be served between 5-6:30 p.m. Carryout is available. Family $15 or single $5. Raffle packages filled with gift cards and specialty items will be on display to view and purchase tickets during the dinner also. Proceeds will fund The Miracle on Main Street project that happens this summer at the preschool. The congregation and preschool families will lend many hands to create a more progressive learning environment going forward into the 21st century.

The staff at Main Street Preschool in downtown Tipp City believes that art enhances the lives of children. Through art, children expand their decision-making, inventiveness, cultural awareness, and academic performance. As student-artists, they learn self-control and progressive thinking that will benefit them well for life.

Tipp City United Methodist Church is located at the corner of 3d & Main Streets. The facility is handicap accessible. The student-artists are anxious to show their talent to their families and the public.

Tipp City Fire Department brought a fire truck for the children to see. During the next weeks the children had a chance to dress up like firefighters and act out some of the situations they learned about. This is an example of multisensory learning which is incorporated in Main Street Preschool’s curriculum.

Children who stay for the after-school optional program enjoyed the beautiful autumn afternoon outside.  Leaves were all around and they decided to rake them into a pile so they could play in it.  They realized that after working together to make the pile there was plenty of time to play together.  Lunch Bunch offers children opportunities to talk about and agree on activities they would like to do together.

Main Street Preschool opened its doors the day after Labor Day. With the beautiful late summer weather, the children spent time in the outdoor classroom, the Play Garden.  Lots of learning and playing happens there.  It’s an ideal space to work on motor skills—large and small.  And the added benefit is lots of sunshine and fresh air.

Main Street Preschool is planning an Open House for Sunday, January 24 between 2 and 3 pm.  Stop by to meet the staff and visit the classrooms.  Register your child(ren) for one of the classes available for the 2016-2017 school year.  We recommend registering early to hold the option you prefer.

Located at the corner of 3rd and Main Streets in downtown Tipp City, the preschool offers consecutive days of learning for ages 2 through 5.  One, two, three, and four-day class options are available.  The ever-popular, after-school Lunch Bunch opportunity allows for children to stay an extra hour or two to eat lunch with friends and continue learning classroom concepts while participating in children-directed activities.  Licensed by the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, Main Street Preschool opened in 2005.

Visit the preschool’s Facebook page to see many more activities.

image002Pastor Dan explained “The Great 2015 Christmas Challenge.” We will partner with the church to bring in 10,000 pounds of foods until Christmas Eve to be donated to Needy Basket of Southern Miami Co in Tipp City. Since 2007, Main Street Preschool has donated jars of jelly and other food items to Needy Basket as a service project. Some of the teachers continued a discussion about food. The children learned the song “Aikendrum” about the man who lives in the moon and plays upon a ladle. Each part of his body is made of food. The students discovered whether each piece of food came from an animal or grew on a plant.

There are four class options: 1-day, 2-day, 3-day, and 4-day Pre-K. Some classes fill quickly so registering early will give you the option you prefer.

The preschool office is closed on Fridays; please leave a phone message or email us about your interest.

Open House

An Open House is planned for Sunday, January 24 from 2:00– to 3:00 p.m. when the staff of Main Street Preschool invites the public to meet the teachers, tour the classrooms, learn about our class options, and register at that time. Teacher assistants in the four classes allow for small-group activities which emphasize the teaching philosophy of growth and development of the whole child physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually and spiritually. The well-liked Lunch Bunch after-school program allows children to build new friendships with children from other classes and expand their imagination, inventiveness and socialization skills beyond the classroom setting.

halloween

Dressing up for our Halloween Parade was so much fun. The children sorted characters into groups and counted them for a “Numbers” book. Even when they are having fun, the children are learning, and they don’t even know it. At the end of the school day, the children and their families walked down Main Street and visited merchants who had treat for them. Thanks to the Tipp City merchants who participated to make this a very fun event for the families. The staff is looking ahead and planning registration and open house in January for the 2016-2017 school year.

LIFE CYCLE OF A PUMPKIN PLANT — A class read about the life cycle of a pumpkin plant. Then they went out to the play garden and examined the pumpkin vines growing there. Last May, students from the Explorers class planted pumpkin seeds from our 2014 pumpkin. Now in 2015 we can see the vines over the fences as well as the flowers and the pumpkins. We even found some rotting pumpkins and seeds on the ground.
